March 5th, 2010fashion..fffffashion.
March 3rd, 2010Scott is a guy that wears many hats. We here in the Chrisman household like to keep ourselves busy and working hard! Scott makes the awesome videos for Floataway, works at a yoga studio in Studio City called The Yoga Shelter and also does behind the scenes videos for Kilkus Photography. Chris Kilkus is Forever 21/Heritage and all those sister brands main photographer and Scott tags along and creates fun videos for the companies to help show off and tell a story with their product! Every time he comes home I swoon over the stories he tells and get so jealous because I long to shoot lifestyle editorial one day.
I wanted to share with you a few of his videos because I just think they are amazing!
Something that we find very important is to keep ourselves inspired and motivated by our true passions in life other than our business. So Scott creating these behind the scenes videos, working in such a serene and inspiring place like The Yoga Shelter and me working with kids a couple days a week, definitely keep us going and helps us not to get burnt out or unmotivated from our biggest passion: Floataway. It is good to step away from what we work so hard on and have some fun in other fields of life..I promise you no matter what it is, it will always inspire and motivate you in whatever you are most passionate about.
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Congratulations Emily and Matt!

it’s live!
March 1st, 2010
Our website is live! Yes..yes..it’s been up for the last month but in construction. Our web designers are still working on a couple things but we would LOVE for you to check it out!
All of the ideas for our website were very much thought out and at first appeared like a hopeless dream. After contacting Jeremy at the 805collective our visions were laid out before us even better than we imagined! With our new site some of our main goals were to keep it simple, personal and creative. It’s awesome to see this live and in action since first dreaming it up in June! Big shout out to Christie Noh for drawing up all the illustrations that play throughout the website!
on keeping calm.

So many people ask, “how did you even BEGIN doing what you love and how do you become successful doing it?”. Well first of all…I don’t think we are even close to defining ourselves as successful. That is something we would like to always be chasing after because it can always be better and we can always work harder. But how we began was by realizing how precious and amazing this life is! We have so many opportunities at our fingertips to allow us to actually chase after our dreams. Don’t take baby steps…run towards them scooping up as much information as you can on the way. Learn your craft and delve into it. Seek the passion and the drive and go with it..don’t be scared of it. Be true to yourself..I promise you only good things will come of this. And most of all..be kind to others and show the love! Listen to your heart, keep in mind the golden rules, and know you are capable of acheiving your wildest dreams. Just do it! Take that leap…it’s an exhilarating feeling that everyone deserves to feel. =)

Scott and I have lived in Los Angeles for about a year and a half now. We moved from the east coast for Scott to pursue his career in film and to start our new life together. Settling here has been a hard concept to swallow. Such a huge city that can feel so lonely sometimes can make you miss home rather badly. So many days I used to think that it would be so easy if we just packed up and moved back to Vermont. I was unfortunately against LA for quite some time. The smog, the traffic, the constant parking violations, etc. My friends would ask how it was and I would be rather negative about the city I lived in and I knew that was bad for my soul…and that scared me. How could I possibly make my dreams come true in surroundings that made me so unhappy?
We just had some of our best friends visiting for the week and I seriously fell in love with my city. I couldn’t help but get giddy when showing them Santa Monica, Malibu, Hollywood, Silverlake and even the valley. I got introduced to a whole new side of culture this past week and it made me feel even more alive. While I know I don’t want to live here forever…I know that this is where I need to be right now and I own up to that.My soul is rejuvenated and my dreams are bigger than ever before. My eyes are opened wide and my feet are in the deep end..I’m giving you another chance…Los Angeles.. I’m Yours.
The image above was taken at The Getty Museum. I can’t even describe how intoxicating and new this view was to me. This is when I knew that it was okay to be living in Los Angeles and my exit plan could be put on hold for a few more years.

Erin and Greg are head over heels for one another. They were married in June and were more than happy to put back on their wedding clothes a couple weeks ago for a fun project that Scott and I had in mind! The best part of it all is Erin of This Lovely City is an amazing creative driven individual and has so many wonderful ideas up her sleeve! We collaborated on styling this shoot and I seriously wanted to pitch a tent and live in the hills of Malibu under this cute little tree. If you need help styling your shoots, homes, weddings, events, etc…Erin is your girl to call! She is absolutely amazing!

you really got a hold on me.

missed exits and closed ramps.
January 27th, 2010
I miss my exit alot. When I drive..my mind is in the clouds. Way up there hanging out on the bare branches that the birds sing on. Thoughts, plans, goals, dreams, prayers, to-dos race through my mind a mile a minute and WOOOP…there goes my exit..my plan. Now I am off course…but thats okay..there is always the next exit and I can back track to my desired destination..but oh wait..that ramp is closed for construction. Well ..there is always the next one because I cant hop over this median wall and turn around on this crazy road and I am sure sitting in the middle of the highway in defeat isn’t an option with people flying by me at 80mph. I always find when I get to my exit..you know..not the first one but the 2nd or third…that I find something new. I discover something I never knew was there. Whether its a store that has a cool window display, a mexican restaurant that looks reallllly good, or just my optimism as I sit at a red light with no frustration, late to my destination and even find a way to give a smile to the stranger sitting next to me.
We must be thankful for those thoughts that consume our minds that make us miss our exit. When we see a closed ramp we better see that next exit as a new adventure..and run towards it. It’s these missed exits and closed ramps that bring us character, stories, and new discoveries. Focus on the journey…no matter if it doesn’t go as planned.

Hope you all had a beautiful week and an even better weekend!! <3

February 1st, 2010
Scott and I have been living two very opposite lives the last few days. As I sit on the couch doped up on Nyquil with tissues adorning the ground..Scott is off helping open a brand new yoga studio where he partakes in the activity 1-2 times a day, working hard on busting out some last minute projects and looking for our new place to call our home. While Scotts motivation and love of life inspires me daily it effects me the most on these days when I can’t wait to muster up some energy and take advantage of this wonderful blessing called life.
I hope you see this life as a gift…because as Mr. Gibbard says ” we are just visitors here…we are not permanent”. So we must seek out the fun and excitement during our visit. =)
i live to make you free.
February 4th, 2010
This lyric is from one of my favorite love songs from Gregory and the Hawk called Boats and Birds. I love how the words flow like the true poem they are. To some the song is about holding onto someone who is moving onto another level and the writer is promising to always be there. That is where the true love stands for me. No matter what in life…the people who are there for you through the good times and the bad, are your true loves.
“If you be my boat
I’ll be your sea
a depth of pure blue just to probe curiosity
ebbing and flowing, pushed by a breeze.
I live to make you free…
but you can set sail to the west if you want to
past the horizons until I can’t even see you
far from here where the beaches are wide
just leave me your wake to remember you by”
I find music, just like any artform, up for ones own personal opinion. I love how you look at a painting and your take on it is different from your neighbors, how when you read a poem..each line and word bring a whole different meaning to the poem to the reader, how when you dream…your dreams interpretations are never right or wrong..but just what you think they are..and sometimes we just never know what they truly mean. But while we seek out the “true meaning”, we have our loved ones waiting for us and encouraging us and we know they will always be there pushing us to be our best as we seek out to make our best story possible.
Thats what I see…what do you get out of it?
This image was taken on the very first day of this year during Shayla and Colins session.

This is a photo that I took in 2007 when Scott and I were moving my things from Florida to Vermont. This was a crazy time in my life..leaving the state that I grew up in and moving thousands of miles away. Even though I had moved away from home right after highschool for college…this was my first HUGE step on my own..and Scott was right by my side. I noticed this gap between the “You are now leaving North Carolina..come back soon!” and “Welcome to Virginia!” signs. It made me wonder who that gap belonged to. Where was the line that officially separated these two states? I called it limbo. Kinda how I feel right now between our new apartment and old apartment. We are working on our new apartment while sleeping at our old one..everything is scattered..doors are closing while others are opening. So much fresh hope and memories all at the same time..kind of like when you enter the border into a new state.
